YOUTH ABLE TO RIDE BUS FOR JUST $40/MONTH THIS SUMMER
For the months of June, July and August, youth in Saskatchewan can ride with the Saskatchewan Transportation Company (STC) for only $40 per month.
With the purchase of their monthly pass, youth ages 12-25 will receive unlimited riding privileges on STC's network, which reaches 290 communities across Saskatchewan.
"STC is offering youths a great opportunity to get out and explore Saskatchewan," Minister responsible for STC Jim Reiter said. "With this sale, STC is providing a clean, safe, comfortable, and eco-friendly way for them to travel."
STC is offering many new reasons for youth to take the bus this summer. STC has upgraded on-bus amenities with the addition of Wi-Fi internet access and on-board videos on select routes. One of STC’s major initiatives in 2011 is to expand Wi-Fi service to additional coaches in their fleet. STC hopes these amenities will help build on the sale's momentum from years past.
"STC wants as many youths as possible to experience the positives of bus travel. We find those who have tried STC's services before are very likely to become repeat riders," STC President & CEO Shawn Grice said. "We hope they take advantage of this offer and sit back, relax, and enjoy travelling Saskatchewan at a great price."
More people are using STC for their travelling needs. In 2010, STC's ridership grew by 3.8 per cent or almost 10,000 riders. First quarter ridership for 2011 is up 14.2 per cent, 8,684 passengers, over 2010. Youth passes are available at any STC agent across the province.
