Discontinuation of Three Under-Utilized Routes Approved
The Saskatchewan Transportation Company (STC) received notice from the Highway Traffic Board (HTB), that the request to discontinue three under-utilized routes was approved. This announcement comes at the end of a 90-day process for HTB.
Blaine Lake-North Battleford was approved for immediate discontinuation and will see passenger and freight service ended on May 18th, 2013.
Regina-Lanigan was approved for discontinuation on January 1st, 2014.
Eastend-Swift Current/Mossbank was approved for discontinuation on January 1st, 2014.
All three routes that have been discontinued averaged two or fewer passengers per trip over the past five years. Overall, these cuts will save STC $300,000 annually.
